@PNO and PhilBorremans Nice discussion you both have. If I could suggest you a nice advertisement company (Creadrive) in Luxembourg, they are very professional with blogs for companies (such as Vittel in France) etc. They even combine it with street marketing etc, since blogs need to be integrated within the existing communication channels the company has. Luxe
Hi PNO,You are right - RSS alone is just a delivery method while internal blogging and wikis can contribute to a more flattened information and corporate ****ture. That's exactly what happens at IBM. And we're (I work there as European New Media Manager) not alone.... More and more companies are starting to understand the benefits of employee generated information.
How about blogs (internal and external!) from employees about the corporation they work in. Such projects were already set up by IBM and HP, but are not widely spread. After all, this alternative point of view could encourage management to create a possitive social and corporate atmosphere within the company, while simple RSS feed by PR can be "just" another PR-channel.
RSS can definitely play a role in reducing the information overload lots of employees are experiencing for the moment. Last Thursday I was at a debate between reporters and PR people and mentioned that by using RSS, both parties would have a better and more targeted news/press release delivery.
It sure would be interesting to see the results of such a technology. Although already widely spread on the internet, as Denis mentioned, it is not really used by BEL20 companies. However, I think it would be equally interesting to check whether there is a demand for such technology. I find it frightening to see that in most companies RSS is used majorly for private purposes, while the professional application of it could downsize e-mail and server traffic and increase knowledge and info sharing within the company as well as to the stakeholders.
It could be nice to see if it worths deploying RSS feed for journalists, bloggers, etc. For the moment the vast majority of the BEL20 doesn't use RSS
That is an interesting queston to ask. But what do you expect from such a survey?
Anyone interested in running a survey on the use of RSS with reporters in Belgium ?
