3 Great Websites for Business Travellers

For the independent business person, travel can be anything from a necessary evil to a delightful surprise. Here are three websites that can help you ensure that it’s closer to the latter.

BUSINESS TRAVELLER

The most far ranging and comprehensive resource for the European business traveller, this is the online counterpart of a magazine that has catered to business travellers world-wide for over thirty years.

The website includes city guides, special deals, an excellent hotel and flight booking tool, a travel planner, live flight information.  There is a wide ranging section called “Tried and tested”, which includes reviews of hotels and airlines worldwide.

Some content is available only by subscription, but much of it is free.  Frequent travellers will be able to decide for themselves whether a subscription will be worthwhile.

The websites of many other print publications offer excellent travel sections, with both free and subscription-only content.  Among the most useful we’ve found are the Financial Times, The Times (of London), and the Telegraph.

WORLD AIRPORT GUIDE

An invaluable resource for any traveller bound for an unfamiliar destination.  This site includes comprehensive information about airports, such as exact location and distance from local cities, driving directions, public transport options, help and information telephone numbers and much more.

The site covers all major airports and many secondary ones.  It is an exceptionally helpful resource to prepare for what is often the most stressful part of the journey : landing in an unfamiliar country and having to find one’s way to the client or hotel.

These are all very useful websites. Business Traveller is also a very good place to look for vacation deals -- there are a lot of interesting offers, and the search tool is first rate.
