I don't think the question is detailed (or can be detailed) enough. Welth for instance. What is state of wealth for one person is a state of poverty to another. The same can be said of all the catorgories with the possible exception of somthing else. This catagory allows a 'mix and match' of priorities. Just like reality.
really, it's a mixture of competition, freedom and, hopefully, wealth
being self employed is a crazy and risky thing to do. I want my old job back (newspaper round 1981).
I wanted to answer freedom, but I am equally motivated by creativity. The main advantage of my current position is, however, freedom: freedom to choose clients, projects, where I work. The greatest motivation is creativity: to be able to pursue interests and transform ideas into reality. Integrity is also very important.
Living a life that is consistent with your beliefs, i.e. integrity between the public and private life, not keeping secrets, courage to be who you are regardless of what others think, learning to balance the disciplines of hard work, giving thanks and celebration--These are a few things that come to mind when I think of freedom.
@PNO: True freedom probably does not exist. Except off course if you define freedom as the right to decide all for your self, while taking the interests of others at hart.If one thinks that true freedom is being able to do and decide without taking the interests of others into account, that is called egocentrism I think.True freedom only exists if one understands, that one is not alone in this world and lives by that understanding. And you will need to fight for that freedom, because there are a lot of people who think that egocentrism is the same as freedom.
Define true freedom? Is this really possible, even for an entrepreneur?
Wealth gives you freedom while power gives you addiction. Beside that, the ability of delivering something really new and innovative is unbeatable
@Norman & FratericIf you look at 'laziness' as being able to do what you like when you like it, maybe then this is more related to freedom. I could be more precise in my comment and say that if laziness is your true motivation, entrepreneurship is not the best way to full fill this motivation *in the short term.*
I wonder what Frateric means with laziness? Because just assuming he means doing nothing, is not in relation to the question asked. Besides laziness is much easier to achieve as an entrepreneur, than for example when being unemployed. Being unemployed asks a lot of effort, you have to work very hard at not doing something. It is much easier to do something you really like, and at which you are really good. In that sense you could call being an entrepreneur being lazy. Especially as you get better and better at.
